Adrian Sherwood, the British dub producer famed for his work with Lee Perry, Prince Far-I and other reggae greats, who also explored industrial and post-punk sounds via his legendary On-U Sound label, has made some gloriously dank music in his time.DJ Twitch, one half of Optimo, the UK duo known for their free-spirited genre-hopping, is a massive fan of Sherwood and On-U Sound. He took his name from a record Sherwood produced and the Optimo slogan "We Love Your Ears" comes from a sleeve of a record Sherwood remixed."For my ears, Adrian Sherwood is the most sonically innovative producer the UK has ever given birth to," Twitch has said. "In my late teens and early 20s, Sherwood's work impacted on me more than anything I had previously heard and made me think about sonic possibilities in a completely new way. I would buy any record he had been involved with unheard and got into a lot of other artists purely because he had been involved with making their records."Five years ago, following a mix that Twitch made covering some of Sherwood's more electronic wild side, he made this mix that covers 1979 - 88 and focuses on Sherwood's dubwise productions, most of which were released on his ON U Sound label. Music includes Dr. Pablo, New Age Steppers, Creation Rebel and Singers & Players, the dub supergroup that included Bim Sherman, Prince Far I and Mikey Dread.It's excellent.
