Watch Yuma X Surrender to the Sea in "Swimming Pool"

Dive into the dreamy debut from this Sydney duo.

There's a point halfway through this video from Yuma X where the screen is split horizonally, filled half with sea and half with sky. The world turns upside down. A lone swimmer, suspended in the vast ocean, gazes down upon an infinite sky, the water muted grey, the air gentle blue. It's a memorable moment that captures the space, mood and feeling of the song exactly: a state of relaxation, a sense of freedom and a haunting strangeness.

"Swimming Pool" is the debut song from Lucy and Jake of Sydney's Northern beaches and the first song either of them has released, making it all the more striking. It's perfectly formed R&B and synth-soul, inspired by a Ghoul song of the same name. Subtle and strong, "Swimming Pool" glides on a crisp backbeat, synths and vocal refrain. And the video is equally compelling, directed by Katzki, who kindly told us more.

Katzki: The video for "Swimming Pool" was two things: one was that feeling of just laying back and basking in an emotion. Just letting it roll over you and do its thing. At the same time we were going all out trying to capture how it feels in that moment when you surrender to the ocean, and the entire visceral and physical experience of that. Without giving too much away, this is part of a bigger project. We shot two videos at once. Will leave it to you to figure out which part this is. More soon.
