Video: Djedjotronic - "Abyssal Zone"

A dark, psychological thriller set to ferocious electro grooves.

"The abyssal zone is the layer that contains the very deep benthic communities near the bottom of oceans," Wikipedia tells me. The word "abyss" comes from "the Greek word ἄβυσσος, meaning bottomless."

Honestly, I'm sure that %95 of the high culture film references made in this Adrien Cothier-directed psychological thriller are entirely lost on me. I'll admit I don't know much about movies, but what I do know is that this clip has the paranoia, the lust, the murder, and the intrigue, to ride with best of the noir revivals. And what better to accompany Djedjotronic's throwback electro grooves than a New York City murder mystery?

This track is straight ninja-bike-in-a-shopping-mall. It's the sound of advanced technology harnessed by subterranean lizard people in Detroit. It's the revenge of the machines. Actually it's just a French dude who listened to a lot of Underground Resistance and Drexciya when he was teenager, then started cranking out ferocious techno tracks for labels like Boys Noize Records and Ed Banger. And there you have it—maybe you guys can do a better job decoding this bad boy?

You can stream and purchase Djedjotronic's Abyssal Zone EP here, out now on Zone Records.
