An Ode to That Simpsons Vine

A true and lasting joy. A landmark of a generation. A six second video from a now-decaying social media platform.

Ah, Vine. It's not really cool anymore, what with Snapchat dominating the video-sharing-app-game (why tf would you make a regular video when you can get airbrushed as hell on Snapchat and pretend to be joking about your narcissism with the assistance of bunny ears and bulbous eyes). But it does live on. There are a few of its offerings that will never die.

"Why You Lying" is definitely still a meme, stale though it may be, and that impression of Owen Wilson can never be repeated—though not for lack of Melissa Villaseñor trying.

But perhaps best of all and most ASMR-inducing (which is all that matters in the modern world, really) is That Simpsons Vine. It's not called that but, you know, it kind of is called that. That Simpsons Vine changed lives, man. It calmed millions of nerves worldwide. Had us dreaming of a better life. It probably got a few people moving to Miami. And it definitely made the chillwave group behind the song, Home, a lot fucking richer.

It's not even been in the world a year yet and it's already changed the course of history (don't fight us on this, pal).

So maybe you've been distracted lately. Maybe you've been sidetracked by dog filter or, like, politics or something equally boring. Maybe you lost your way. Here we are bringing your attention back to the greatest Vine ever made, by Vine user Spicster (who will always be known as sphincter no matter what).

Kick back, relax, and remember that even though someone like Pauline Hanson can get elected to the senate, there's still magic in the world. There are reasons to live. Sort of.
