From Art Blakey to Travis Barker to The Animal—we as a species have seen our fair share of great drummers. And there's no denying that there's nothing like a great percussion section. So when two great drummers get together and thwack and bang stuff, we're all ears.When Tom Gould and Nic Oogjes announced their project STATUE last year, with their track "STATUE THEME" premiering on the Oceans Apart compilation by Cut Copy, we were reasonably excited. Both artists happen to have an intimate understanding of how to get rooms full of people moving their bodies, so there was a lot of promise.Their debut release, Built, lived up to our expectations: organic sounds met synths and drum machines and mating calls to make an expansive, dancefloor-filler of a record.Today on Thump, we premiere the lead single "Entrance," from STATUE's second EP, MONUMENT which is out now on Cutters Records.
