Traverse Some Spooky Woodlands in Mas Ysa's "Sick" Video

The Montreal-born artist is currently on a North American tour with Julianna Barwick.

Mas Ysa (aka Thomas Arsenault) was born in Montreal, but has lived all over the world, including stints in Brazil, Uruguay, Ohio, and upstate New York. His 2015 debut album, Seraph, incorporated elements of electronic, folk, and synth-pop, and received critical acclaim.

Today we're premiering the atmospheric video for the multi-instrumentalist's song "Sick," directed by Brooks Reynolds, which features two individuals moving objects with their minds.

"I wasn't clear on why certain lines had a resonance with me," Arsenault tells THUMP of the track. "I wasn't able to look at them head on, until recently. Some pretty tough stuff to stomach. The process of getting it out from my stomach to my lungs, mouth and ears has been a relief."

"Shooting 'Sick' was a very unusual process," says Reynolds. "Instead of booking a camera, crew and location going out for a day or two, it was a process of shooting a variety of different imagery at different times over several months with a bunch of different cameras. One of the harder parts was deciding when to put a pin it and call it done."

Msa Ysa is currently on tour with Julianna Barwick, who he collaborated with on her latest album, Will.
