Solomun's Ibiza Track of the Week - Axel Boman - "Nokturn"
Welcome to my White Isle Journals, where you'll get an inside look at my life in Ibiza during my Solomun +1 residency this summer at Pacha.
Every week, I'll bring you deep inside Ibiza life, up-close and personal and behind the scenes. Then, I'll pick my own +1 from the island to show you the beating heart of the White Isle––the people. Lastly, I'll pick the track that took over the airwaves for me that week. There's so much going on, and on this party Island, you tend to forget fast. That's why I wanted to write it all down, so I can remember it all and share with you.
The week started with the next round of Solomun+LIVE at Destino, where I always invite a live act. I invited the Berlin-based Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble. They're really nice guys and have changed their sound a bit over the past year. I thought they would be more jazzy, but the performance was hard, fast and rough. This was interesting, but also irritating for some parts of the audience at the same time! They just wanted to dance!
You can see and hear the sets of them and of me on be@tv, they were broadcasting the night live!
The party as Destino was amazing like always. The only thing we have to struggle with is that one neighbour always calls the police and we have to turn down the volume from 11PM onwards. Yes, I know this may sound shocking, but such things also exist here in party-paradise.
After finishing Destino, we wanted to have some late dinner. Don't ask me how it happened, but we landed at a villa party close to Es Cubells, where I ended up playing until mid-morning! I took the Friday afterwards off anyway to relax a little bit, and this plan worked out perfectly at the end.
At Pacha I had female support for the first time this season: Ida Engberg, the Swedish DJ who is the wife of Adam Beyer. Despite the fact that she was traveling with a baby and au pair, she was willing to join me at the after-party. Of course, only for an hour, but hey, this was great! That night at Pacha itself was more like Solomun+5, because there were so many DJ colleagues visiting us that played have my night before.
At around 3AM, there were more DJs than other people in the booth: Agoria, Butch, Dubfire, Oliver Huntemann and finally also Oxia and Marco Carola showed up. How nice! Afterpartying in the basement club, after Ida left home for her baby, I continued playing with Butch until Noon.
Introducing Ayda
I had the honor of meeting Ayda at the beginning of the summer because of my lovely assistant and tour manager Marco. He had the bright idea that we should all do yoga two times a week. The idea was to get a healthy contrast to the party life we are living! Luckily, he has good ideas and, even better, he found the perfect Yoga teacher for us.
Ayda has incredible positive energy. She is so patient with us––this is an important thing to say. It always looks very funny when I am doing this yoga stuff, that's why we are all laughing a lot during our sessions I guess for us this is really important not to be too serious. But of course we are also working hard – to make Ayda proud of us
She works a lot, that's why she doesn't really go out a lot. I am always happy when she visits us at Pacha like last Sunday. Ayda is just amazing and always open for crazy ideas. When I proposed her to do a mass yoga at a cave-afterparty a few weeks ago, she was instantly: "Ok, why not?" At the end we didn't do it though because...I guess this idea was too crazy. Maybe next time, summer's stills young!

Ayda on partying with Solomun
The first word that comes into my mind when thinking about Solomun's parties at Pacha is pureness. Of course, not because all the people are so pure in terms of soberness, but because the people are all connected with each other when they step into the club.
And on top of this: the accessibility. Everybody in the room gets a piece of Solomun, that's what the people feel and that's why he put the booth in the middle of the club, reachable for everybody.
Some friends who knows about Solomun ask me how he is in our yoga class. My answer is always the same. He is an incredible, humble person, very grounded. What fascinates me most is his big heart and how he is so thoughtful and helpful.
