For his Buygore debut, producer Dabow is bringing some chill, trippy trap tunes that are better designed for day-dreaming than mosh pits. The four-track EP Louder will be available tomorrow (October 27), but we've got a special sneak peek for you today.His track "Geisha," a woozy nod to Japanese Koto music, begins with melodious, mournful strings before being overridden with sputtering percussion, and dropping to a syrupy half-time groove that defines the track. The synth melody seems to do its best to mimic, or at least call attention to the odd rhythms on display in certain Japanese musical constructions. A coy vocal snippet occasionally drops in to say, what else, "Geisha"— the female entertainers in Japan, often crassly referred to as prostitutes.This tune seems designed to be mashed up with Hayao Miyazaki's surreal animation for an otherworldly experience: like tripping through a landscape of talking foxes with a mouth full of codeine.
