Following her cover of Porter Robinson and Madeon's "Shelter," Canadian producer Drainpuppet is back with a new original track, "Flecks." (Full disclosure: Drainpuppet is an extended member of the THUMP family.)"Flecks" is warm and woozy, like sipping on a hot toddy on a snowy winter evening. Sections of cheerful, melodic ambling are followed by bursts of synths, each grandiose stab punctuated by a split second of silence right after. Subtle breath-like sounds sweep throughout, adding a frosty air of ambiance."'Flecks' is about sparseness and loudness," Drainpuppet tells THUMP over email. "I'm a firm believer in negative space, though I don't exercise that belief enough. The track is a reinterpretation of the kind of stuff I was making years ago, but with less clutter."Listen to "Flecks" below.
