SpectraSoul Is Back. We've Got the Lead Tune from Their New LP.

The tune is called "Always," and it made us feel things.

SpectraSoul are one of the few drum and bass acts that are equally capable of bringing a degree of ruckus to deep, heady vibes, or bringing feels to the tear-out rave. The Shogun Audio duo have carved out a unique niche for themselves in the crowded UK bass scene and, never a pair to be outdone, they've spent the past year holed up, refining their sound, and their forthcoming LP, titled The Mistress, is nearing release in May.

"We took some time to go back to the drawing board. We needed new inspiration after completing the last album and it took a little longer than we had expected," the duo tell THUMP. "The time out has done us good. We are refocused and re-energized and feeling in a happy place with our music. We really think that you can hear it in the new material."

The first two tracks released from the LP are "Always" and "I Don't Mind." We've got the premiere of the former, the feelsier of the two, and the variation in the double-header is indicative of the sonic range of the forthcoming LP. "This single is what we hope to be the perfect opening statement in the lead up to the album release later this coming spring," they explain. " 'Always' and 'I Don't mind' are at polar opposite ends of the scale, in terms of the our 'sound'.

Still, they're keeping mum about the overall tone of the record: "This is really the only indication that they give as to the nature of the new album; expect the unexpected, and expect diversity and experimentation. These are actually two of the least vocal driven tracks from the album. We've worked quite hard since the last album at developing our song-writing skills, and this became one of the key driving forces behind the project."
