FKA twigs Shares New Short Film, 'Soundtrack 7'

“flesh, sweat, feeling, muscle, and a live movement, no air brushing, no frills.”

English artist Tahliah Barnett a.k.a. FKA twigs yesterday shared her short film Soundtrack 7, available to watch for the first time outside of the UK. The release came as a part of a larger archival project collecting the entirety of her work, including unseen videos and photos, on her relaunched website.

Soundtrack 7 had its world premiere at Brooklyn's BAM venue in August, and it was shot on location during the artist's weeklong residency at the Manchester International Festival. She directed the clip and also created its concept, while the choreography was done by Aaron Sillis.

Barnett has characterized Soundtrack 7 as an abstract autobiographical piece, and described it to BAM as "flesh, sweat, feeling, muscle, and a live movement, no air brushing, no frills." One of its recurring tropes is a recitation of 16th-century English poet Thomas Wyatt's poem "I Find No Peace." It was available to watch for UK viewers last month.
