Gang Fatale Lend Their Club-Ready Grooves to the Slovenian Dance-Pop Band Your Gay Thoughts

It turns out all their track "Spitting Image" needed was a little cowbell.

Back in February the Slovenian band Your Gay Thoughts released their debut album The Watercolors, an exploration of natural and artificial textures incorporating jazz, pop, and hip-hop elements. Now they've released a remix EP, which takes things in a clubbier direction—the highlight is a remix "Spitting Image" by Neana and TD_Nasty from the buzzy British dance outfit Gang Fatale. Their version adds hypnotic cowbells and hand drums to the mix without distracting from the rich vocal melodies, which give the whole thing a sunset afterglow. Your Gay Thoughts have blessed us with the video for the remix, which you can check out below—it features a kaleidoscopic barrage of shapes and colors flying across the screen.

Your Gay Thoughts spoke to us over email about the track and the remix. "The meaning of our track "Spitting Image" has mostly to do with the friend, the shadow, the wall, the door, the trembling, the rest, the sliding, the waiting, the voice," they explained, enigmatically. "These things hold the key to the song's meaning. When they get unified, they form the meaning of the song," they added. They also described meeting Neana and TD_Nasty when they played in their hometown of Ljubljana, noting, "We really enjoy their work and we were delighted to have a club re-make for a slow track that doesn't seem to have potential for a dancefloor-oriented groove, at first. They proved us wrong."
