Here's the Shortest Interview You'll Ever Read With Disco Deviants Rub N Tug

Thomas Bullock and Eric Duncan are back together again and we had a very quick chat with them ahead of a gig in London this weekend.

Just over decade ago now, Cambridge man Thomas Bullock hooked up with Still Going's Eric Duncan at a party in LA and Rub N Tug was born. There were a batch of singles, a series of compillations, and even a mix for Fabric. As a profile in i-D put it, the Rub N Tug sound was one in which "Old Italo house rarities shuffle shoulders against lean post-funk workouts. Electro Led Zep oddities are thrown down against acid rock." Which back then, and now too, was a very satisfying proposition. Happily for everyone with even the remotest interest in actually enjoying a party Rub N Tug are back!

Eric and Thomas will be playing ReviveHER label launch party at RED Market's Last Days Of Shoreditch this Saturday 27th August with Mystery Jets, Young Marco, Sultan Shakes and more. If you like listening to music and drinking beer with your mates you'll not find many better ways to combine those activities in London this weekend.

We were so hyped to find out that the lads would be playing just minutes from THUMP HQ that we got very excited and fired over a CAN WE CHAT TO THEM PLEASE email. Our dream came true. The result was this short and straight to the point interview.

THUMP: Does Rub N Tug live on even when the pair of you vanish from the dancefloor's eye?
Rub N Tug: Of course. On the time-line there's an echo and you hear it every time you listen to your mate's USB.

Does that scene you slotted into so nicely in New York still exist?
We didn't slot into any scene, we created one. Or let's say, we played the music for a scene that had no music. We made the soundtrack to a performance that you can still enjoy if you know where to go and when.

Is London a disco-friendly city?
If you play the right thing at the right time everyone is friendly.

Eric, you're a fan of a nice romantic DJ dinner. What would you serve at a dinner party to really impress us?
Not sure. I always eat out. So I guess whatever is on the menu. Help yourself. Cheers.

What next for Rub N Tug?
Saturday night REVIVEHER party in Shoreditch. Come along and feel good!
