Hudson Mohawke’s Video for “Very First Breath” Features the Worst Break Up Imaginable

Prepare to have every time you've been dumped put into perspective.

There isn't long to wait now until HudMo's second solo record, Lantern, is released. We have been lucky enough to give it a listen and we can absolutely confirm it is a total, next-level treat for the ears. Ahead of it dropping like a neon-soaked nuke on the 16th of June, you can now watch the video for its lead single, "Very First Breath" featuring Irfane.

The film's vibe is a spell-binding meld of Blade Runner, Warriors, and Akira, straight from the head of Dutch director Sam De Jong. Set against a bizarro-futurist cityscape, it features a pair of torn lovers who have an intriguingly inaudible conversation before basically the worst break-up I've ever seen. And this is coming from someone whose first girlfriend got their friend to break up with him over the phone. That's right, she couldn't even call me herself. Aged 12, I thought I'd never get over that day. Luckily for me, my younger brother bought me Red Hot Chili Peppers' Greatest Hits from Tesco to cheer me up – the characters in this video sadly have no such salvation.

"Very First Breath" is another burst of electric production, and scintillating melody, from what will be one of the most exciting releases of the year. For now, enjoy the video, and have every time you were dumped put into perspective.
