Disclosure and Sam Smith Covered Drake's "Hotline Bling"

Just hold on we're going house.

With the release of Caracal only a week away, the Disclosure machine is fully whirring into action. The Lawrence brothers are popping up all over the place, offering sneaky insights into what we can expect from their second record. Well, we got a pretty hefty preview today, as well as a listen to just what their new fleshed-out live show is going to sound like, when they visited the Radio 1 Live Lounge with Sam Smith. The "Latch" collaborators performed their single from Caracal, the already previewed "Omen," and then treated us to something completely different.

"Hotline Bling", a classic slice of hip-hop-lamentation from Canadian megastar and woe-runner Drake, has been infiltrating airwaves incessantly this summer, with its instantly recognizable rolling beat and louche lyricism. Little did we know just how much we needed to hear it with a 2-step shuffle underneath, and vocalled instead by Sam Smith. The whole vibe is taken from chilled R&B to pristine pop-house and, while we're reluctant to say it's better, is certainly a worthy contender to Aubrey Graham's original. Listen here.
