Sample identification database, WhoSampled, will update its iOS app so that users can connect it with their Spotify account. From there, users can see exactly what samples were used in their most loved songs without toggling back and forth between apps.

WhoSampled is a UK-based company that has 1.2 million monthly users according to its website, specializing in helping users decode the samples in over 365,000 songs and 125,000 artists, tracing their occurrence throughout the history of recorded music.

The function is currently limited to your saved tracks, albums, and playlists within Spotify. However, you have the ability to update your Spotify playlists from within WhoSampled. This means that after finding out The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Mo Money Mo Problems" samples Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out," you can update your workout playlist to make one follow the other. If you have a Spotify Premium account, you can stream music directly from within WhoSampled.

WhoSampled told VentureBeat that they will incorporate the new Spotify integration technology into the Android version of their app later this year.

The WhoSampled iOS app will go live with the new functionality on Wednesday morning.
