Listen to Krystal Klear's Love Letter to Dublin Mixtape

The Cold Tonic boss' homecoming mix is a woozy blend of jazz, field recordings, and Phil Lynott.

When he's not thinking about his favourite edits, remixing Real Lies, or espousing on the art of the B2B, Mr Cold Tonic himself Krystal Klear's thinking about Dublin. Which, given that it's where he grew up, is understandable. After all, emigres can often be found dreaming of home. While most of us leave those dreams as just that—hauntological drifts that scutter round our heads, mingling with memories of old crisps and things we wish we'd said to taxi drivers—Krystal Klear spent a few days crafting a sonic love letter to the city.

Those expecting the usual blend of rushy-edits and sharp-edged disco obscurities might be in for a surprise. In an interview with Parallel, he notes that, "I went into town with a microphone to get some field recordings. When I was making it the track-list was originally loads of dance music but I was like, "Hold on for a sec. If I was 16 again and I had my mini-disc player and I was walking around town, what would I have been listening to? What makes me think of Dublin?" It wouldn't have been that much dance music so I took a lot out – it was tough to restrain myself."

The result is a woozily romantic paean to a city he knows like the back of his hand. Check it out below:
