Listen to Some Glacial Norwegian Electro From the Myriad Mind of Skatebård

Electronic music — via heavy metal, hip-hop and italo-disco.
Oddbjrøn Steffensen

It's hard to pin down exactly what to call "Farver/Flimrer". It's poppy enough to be called electro but bounces enough to be called house, it's breezy enough to be balearic but stings and fizzes with touches of techno. Although a brief look through the musical history of its creator, Bård Aasen Lødemel aka Skatebård, makes it pretty obvious as to why that is. The man began his career as a heavy metal drummer, he then got into techno and became a stalwart of Norway's rave scene, from here he suddenly became a cult hip-hop MC in Norway, oh then he made an album informed by italo-disco, and now on his latest album CDIII he is pursuing a Norwegian interpretation of Detroitian techno and cosmic electronica. Eclectic, to say the least.

"Farver/Flimrer", which we are premiering exclusively today, is a testament to this myriad of influences. It's got shades of everything on it, while remaining totally unique. Glacial, popping, and emotive; we love it, and hope you will too.
