The UK's "garage revival" has been talked about for a few years now. As with most 'resurgences' the most likely truth is that it never went away, and the return is instead down to a spike in popularity as opposed to a full-on renaissance. The same can't quite be said for UK Funky. Despite being a running partner to garage in the mid-2000s, the genre hasn't held attention in the same way, threatening to cast the likes of Crazy Cousinz into the annals of four to the floor history.Props then to MA1, a seasoned Rinse FM selector and pioneer from the early days of UK Funky, who is steadily bringing the movement back to the surface with "Air", a bouncing soulful cut from his upcoming Take Away the Bass EP. If this is the start of a UK Funky revolution then count us in and skankin. You can hear the rest on March 30, when it drops on his label Karnival Music.MA1 is on Facebook // SoundCloud // Twitter
