MANIK Delivers a No-Frills Acid Jam on Poker Flat's ‘Forward To The Past’ Anthology

On "Memory One," the NYC DJ/producer stricks to the tried and true production values of early acid.

Poker Flat's Forward To The Past anthology returns in its third iteration, as lean and mean as it ever was. The label promises an album "precision-engineered to make you jack, dream, and all things in between!"

Indeed, the winning formula here remains the same: a selection of hot-shot veterans and up-and-coming producers out to recapture the style and mood of early club music. That means paying homage to the golden years between 1985 and 1992, when acid house and Detroit techno took the world's dancefloors by storm. The result is a collection of new tracks as addictive as the classics that influenced them: a tribute at the cutting edge of contemporary music production.

New York City's MANIK contributes a no-frills jam, "Memory One," to the album, sticking to the tried and true production values of early acid. Having fired onto the scene back in 2011 with releases on Ovum, Hot Creations, Culprit, and, of course, Poker Flat, the NYC native is quickly making a name as one of dance music's most consistent producers. With a diverse sound categorized somewhere between classic house, techno, acid, and a bit of funk and disco, MANIK continues to shine as an artist who can never be pigeonholed.

'Forward to the Past' will be out on November 27th, you can pre-order the EP here.
