Analog Synth Legend Charles Cohen Arrested for Allegedly Attempting Sex Act with Underage Boy

Dark times for the master of the Buchla music easel.

Sad news: Philadelphia-based analog synth composer Charles Cohen has been arrested in suspicion of attempting sex acts with a minor, according to reports from the Philadelphia Times Herald.

After placing a Craigslist ad in September, Cohen allegedly partook in a series of online communications arranging to engage in mutual oral sex with someone he believed to be an 14-year old boy, but was in fact local law enforcement posing as a minor.

On September 28, Cohen reportedly arrived at a strip mall in the suburban outskirts of Philadelphia, where he was then arrested under suspicion of "a criminal attempt of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16" and incarcerated on $100,000 bail.

Since the 1970s, Cohen has been best known for his mastery of the Buchla Music Easel synthesizer, a notoriously complex apparatus invented by synth pioneer Don Buchla in 1963 . Cohen was set to embark on a US tour after releasing Brother I Prove You Wrong in May, his first album since 1988; instead, he will appear for preliminary hearings on October 13.
