Zone Out To The Trippy Solo EP From Minilogue's Sebastian Mullaert

Josh Wink's Ovum label continues its 20th anniversary celebrations with Mullaert's solo debut.

Josh Wink's Ovum label has been going off all year in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The high point so far has been the release of the "Are You There" remix package—we premiered the Harry Romero slapper a few months back—but the latest addition to the label's catalog threatens to take the cake. This one comes from Sebastian Mullaert, one of the original members of the Minilogue duo and an artist who has released on established outposts like Wagon Repair, Crosstown Rebels, and Cocoon over the past 17 years or so. This two-track EP, Chant De Paris, was crafted before a gig at the Parisian club Showcase and recalls smoky after hours spots that never seem to close their doors. Gummy acid notes ricochet around a slinky beat on the A-side, while "Recapturing the Radical Self" is an extended journey through astral synth pads and zip-zapping bleep-bloops. Get your tripped-out vibes on before the tracks drop on June 23.
