Five Places to Celebrate Every Raver's Favorite Made Up Holiday, Cinco De Techno

Tequila, tacos, and techno celebrations are happening around the country, from Atlanta to San Diego.

It's Cinco De Mayo, the day Mexico fended off a threat from French imperialists and asserted itself as a nation to be reckoned with. It's also the holiday that Americans observe to toast its Southern neighbor with tequila, tacos, and in the clubs, techno.

The very American "Cinco De Techno" parties are popping up across the country, reworking the holiday's traditional street parties and mariachi bands into night clubs complete with sombrero-wearing DJs. This is one night of the year when you get chips and salsa and complimentary tequila shots with your admission. The one night where it feels appropriate to dance to drum machine beats while full of fajitas and drunk on mezcal. This agave-induced dream night only happens once a year, so to make sure you don't end up eating Tostidos at your friend's apartment (unless that's what you'd prefer, no judgment here), here are five clubs around the country that mix tequila with techno.

Brooklyn

Dance party promoters Enigma Events has teamed up with production company 2BC to host a rooftop party at the East Williamsburg venue Studio 299. Paid admissions comes with two complimentary tequila shots.

Los Angeles

The 900 Block is hosting a full on family friendly taco + techno special. They're excited enough about the party that the site has even initiated a countdown so you know exactly when the party's starting.

Atlanta

Atlanta promoters Atlanta Techno Love and Mexican brewer Tecate will be hosting at the city's Alley Cat club a "Cinco de Gato party that promises "Tacos, Technoand Tequila." This is the only Cinco De Techno party, that we know of, where the special guest is a chef and not a DJ.

Orlando

A four-way production between Girlsliketechno, Listen Carefully, Early Morning, and 4You&Me, this outdoor party being held at Sandwich Bar is boasting a massive sound system, extra heavy techno, and complimentary chips and guac.

San Diego

With co-sponsorship from Resident Advisor and Mixcloud, Techniche at Rich's San Diego might arguably be the Cinco De Techno party to be at tonight, (though they're billing it as Techno de Mayo). No advertised free beer or chips though.
