This week: acid house comebacks, world tech-house, UK bassline, and continental electro-pop.

Welcome to Notes from the Underground, THUMP's weekly premiere feature dedicated to shining a light on underground sonics from around the world. Every week, we'll start at the surface and dig deeper into the underground with each track. In this week's edition, we've got everything from acid house legends to Belgian electro-pop upstarts, with some world-sourced tech-house and UK bassline in-between - and you can check them all out at this one-stop shop. Hydrogen Sea - "Wear Out" (Mees Dierdorp remix) [Eskimo Recordings]

If it's good and it comes from Belgium and it's not techno, Eskimo Recordings is most likely involved. In this instance, dark electro-pop duo Hydrogen Sea's "Wear Out" enjoys a remix from Dutch experimentalist Mees Dierdorp and the results are spooky and catchy and will have you googling the duo faster than you can finish this sentence.

Mr. C - "Acid Illusion" [Superfreq]

Codpiece-clad acid house champion Mr. C is about town on the back of his Illusion EP, released on Superfreq, and he's spreading acid vibes like its the 1990s all over again. His tune "Acid Illusion" has all the warbled zippy-zappy your frazzled brain could ask for.

Citizenn - "Tied" (Murk Mega remix) [Crosstown Rebels]

Crosstown Rebels act Citizenn gets the house re-work from Miami veterans Murk on "Tied," the single from his atest EP of the same name. The remix is abstract – Whispered vocals flit about the atmosphere and the pseudo-reggaeton beat keeps affairs progressing with a degree of pep.

Holy Goof - "Oi" [Party Like Us]

AC Slater's Party Like Us has developed a monopoly on bassline whomp over the past couple of years, and the Midland Line EP from Holy Goof just shows how easy it's gotten for the squad to churn out bossy bangers like it's par for the course.

Arjun Vagale - "Clot" (Wade remix) [Pleasurekraft]

The whole world came together on this one. Spanish tech-house producer Wade takes on remix duties of Indian star Arjun Vagale's "Clot," to be released on stateside-based Swedes Pleasurekraft's Kraftek imprint. Keep your cumbayas to yourself, tech-house is the soundtrack to a united world.

Eddie Niguel - "Where Do We Go From Here" [Midnight Shift]

Singaporean label Midnight Shift has been doing some great things in the past year with Basic Soul Unit, Juju and Jordash, Terrence Parker, and more. I checked out their newly minted white label series for a Locked Groove remix, but stayed for this original cut from Eddie Niguel. "Where Do We Go From Here" encapsulates the patient ebb and flow of a seasoned producer, and I'm looking forward to throwing it in early on or really late. It's out on May 25, just in time for Detroit.

Karasho - "Hide"

Moody house vibes abound on Karasho's "Hide," a seven-minute deeper house tune with a galloping cadence and spacey atmospherics. The seemingly placeless producer also made the artwork for the release as part of a photography series titled 'Metaphysical Pictures of an Unknown Man.'
