Skrillex, the Chainsmokers and Flume All Nominated for the 2017 Grammys

The Chainsmokers and Flume dominate this year’s electronic categories.

Louie Vega, The Chainsmokers, Skrillex, and Flume are among the electronic artists nominated for a 2017 Grammy.

Controversial EDM duo The Chainsmokers are up for Best New Artist in the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, which were announced today. Their hit collaboration with Halsey, "Closer," is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Mike Posner's divisive summer anthem, "I Took A Pill In Ibiza," is up against pop titans Adele and Beyoncé for Best Song of The Year.

Flume dominates in the Grammy's two main electronic categories—Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album. The Australian producer and DJ is nominated in both categories, for his track featuring Kai "Never Be Like You," and for his album Skin.

Flume is up against longtime house producer and previous Grammy winner, Louie Vega, for Best Dance/Electronic Album for Vega's Louie Vega Starring…XXVIII. Edward Snowden collaborator Jean-Michel Jarre's Electronica 1: The Time Machine album is also nominated in the same category. The other nominees for best album are Tycho's Epoch, and Underworld's Barbara Barbara, We Face A Shining Future.

The rest of Best Dance Recording nominations are: Bob Moses' "Tearing Me Up", Riton's "Rinse & Repeat", and Sofi Tukker's "Drinkee."

Both Skrillex and Diplo have production credits on Justin Bieber's 2015 album Purpose, which is up for Album of the Year. Skrillex is also nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for "Purple Lamborghini," his collaboration with Rick Ross from Suicide Squad.

Diplo also has a production credit along with James Blake on Beyoncé's 2016 album Lemonade, which is another contender for Album of the Year.

Benny Blanco and Max Martin are both up for Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical. Director Romain Gavras' video for Jamie xx's "Gosh," meanwhile, is nominated for Best Music Video. The Steve Aoki documentary I'll Sleep When I'm Dead is nominated for Best Music Film.

In the category for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto's score for The Revenant is nominated, as are volumes one and two of the Stranger Things soundtrack by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein aka S U R V I V E.

The nominees for Best Remixed Recording include the Psionics' remix of Soul Pacific's "Cali Coast," the staRo remix of The Silver Lake Chorus' "Heavy Star Movin';" Timo Maas and James Teej Remix of Paul McCartney and Wings' "Nineteen Hundred Eighty-Five"; Kaskade and Lipless' remix of Ry X's "Only"; RAC's remix of Bob Moses' "Tearing Me Up"; and Hot Chip member Joe Goddard's remix of The Chemical Brothers' "Wide Open."

Two legacy electronic musicians, Enya and Vangelis, have nominations for their respective Dark Sky Island and Rosetta LPs in the Best New Age Album category.

Jack Ü swept the board at last year's awards, in what was another disappointing year for electronic music at the Grammys.
