"Baltimore, where you at ?" a history of Baltimore Club Music - english version from NAYRA on Vimeo.

The influence of Baltimore club on electronic music over the last couple decades really can't be overestimated. It's infiltrated the mainstream via Diplo, M.I.A., and Lil Jon, while still holding the captivation of the underground not only in its original incarnation, but also in its ongoing influence on Philly Club, Jersey Club, and Ballroom beats.

French Director Tim Moreau first heard the style while living in small town in the south of France, and ended up loving it so much that he flew to Baltimore three times between 2011-2012 to make the above documentary, Baltimore Where You At? Explaining his intentions for the film in an interview with The FADER, he offers, "My aim was really to connect the city's socio-economic background and its music; how a music, as raw as it is, helps people forget about hard times."

"I wanted people to love Baltimore club and to know the real story," he further elaborates. "I wanted to tell people that Bmore club music is not only Diplo and Hollertronix. That Baltimore club was here before all of that and it has a long story that's just as important as hip-hop, house, and blues. That it is a major musical movement that is very influential to the mainstream music of today."
