Detroit-based producer 2Lanes has shared a raucous new track off his forthcoming debut EP, Diamonds in the Rough. Offering a potent brew of harsh industrial noise and hard-hitting bass, "Heat Dish" depicts the unsettling nature of a mechanized world and the clamorous bustle of city life. 2Lanes channels the anxiety that arises when you're surrounded by constant motion and machinery—there may be signs of life surrounding you, but you can still feel utterly alone.

2Lanes shared his take on the song with THUMP via email. "For this track I was trying to channel the sound and sonic palette that were forced upon me in my youth by [major labels]," he wrote. "A lot of it was mostly nu-metal bands, and more recently I've been watching their live concerts, which were huge. Most of this was made with a nerdy rack synth that I sold off very shortly after making this track. I was trying to emulate the cold, harsh guitar and heavy sounds in more of a club-music mixable format."
