It's never too late to breathe some new life into a old fave, so proves this remix by British DJ/producer Joshua James of 2013 single "All Your Love Is Gone" by UK singer/songwriter Oli Bayston as Boxed In. Where the original found favor amongst indie-rock circles familiar with Bayston's former band Keith, the new version is aimed at crossover clubbers, appearing as an exclusive on the latest edition of the Future Disco series by Needwant, who have been reliably cranking out these compilations since 2009. The newest, Vol. 9, finds room for a wide variety of acts, from Fatima Yamaha and Hot Chip member Joe Goddard to Berghain/Panorama Bar favorites Baker & Baumecker and even 80s hitmakers New Order, whose 2015 single "Tutti Frutti" gets reworked by Tom Trago.

Despite the title, there isn't much disco, future or otherwise, found on the comp (with the exception of good old Dimitri From Paris), and the James remix hews heavily into deep house territory with breezy high-hats hits and steady synth melodies, but manages to do more than just maintain the current musical climate with some dramatic cymbal drops that fall from way above the sea-level groove. It's a subtle effect that could be easily missed, but as is often the case, it's the small things that stand out the most. Listen here in advance of the compilation's February 12 release.
