THUMP's artist of the year for 2016, The Black Madonna, today released her new single "He Is The Voice I Hear," a driving disco track heavy on live instrumentation. The ambitious ten-minute single was first teased back in November, and marks the artist's first release featuring all-new work since 2013's Lady of Sorrows EP. With its initial announcement, she called it "the most exciting project I've ever worked on."

The record arrives on digital and single-sided 12" formats as the inaugural release on the artist's new label called We Still Believe. The imprint shares its name of both a 2013 Black Madonna track and and a North American tour she embarked on in late 2016.

"He Is The Voice I Hear" was co-produced and co-engineered by her regular collaborator Rupert Murray, and features appearances from keyboardist Christoforo LaBarbera and strings performer strings performer Davide Rossi.

The Black Madonna included the song on a recent mix for Pete Tong's "New Names" series, which was broadcast this past Friday on BBC Radio 1. The selection featured tracks from Harvey Sutherland, Red Rack'em, K-Hand, and more.

"In 2017, I think we'll see a return to the core ideas that make dance music special," the artist said in her introduction to the mix. "House and disco will continue to evolve and come to the forefront. I think will get funkier and harder. The underground in general will get stronger, and that's good news for everyone."
