The Hacker's New Single Under His Amato Alias Scalds Like Bile

French producer and electroclash veteran Michel Amato AKA The Hacker—known for his work with scene icon Miss Kittin—has shared a mirthlessly churning single under his Amato alias, off his forthcoming le desordre et la nuit EP for Minimal Wave sublabel Cititrax. "Deranged," premiering today on THUMP, follows his contribution to the imprint's fall compilation Tracks Volume 1, and finds Amato employing what sounds like an unruly crowd of analog gear to evoke the sound of slow, scalding bile, tossing and turning in its own mess.

"I called this track 'Deranged,' because the bassline has something 'crazy' about it," he told THUMP via email. "It's so repetitive and weird that it makes me think of a madman running around in circles in a padded cell. I don't know if that image comes to mind from listening to the song, but for me it's pretty clear!"

le desordre et la nuit will see release via Cititrax on July 13. Catch Minimal Wave boss Veronica Vasicka play with techno cult figure Regis and L.I.E.S. affiliate Antenes at DISTAL, presented by Dusk & Haze, this weekend in New York.

In 2013, we interviewed Miss Kittin on her legacy, what it would be like to be interviewed in the Oval Office, and the French electronic scene.
