Toyboy & Robin Bring Old School Garage to Big Beat Records

Listen and cop the free download of their groovy "300 Degrees," featuring Camden Cox.

Before Craig David ruined it, the space between R&B and garage was one of the most fertile breedings grounds for the UK underground sound. Now, almost a decade and a half later, the garage vibe has been totally refreshed as it conquers America, and London act Toyboy & Robin are well poised to crest at the top of the scene's wave.

It would be unfair to call Toyboy & Robin simply a garage act. Their sound roves around old school UK house and flourishes it all with a modern touch that's seen them affiliate with tastemaker label MTA Records. Not for long, though. NYC power player Big Beat Records, home to Clean Bandit and Jack Ü, plucked the act from over the Atlantic, and we've got the premiere of one of their first tunes at their new home.

The track, featuring Camden Cox, is called "300 Degrees," and is all about mixing old school R&B vibes with the grooving shuffle of garage. And even better: T&R are offering it up as a free download.

"We're really happy to have signed our record deal with Big Beat as we feel they understand what we're trying to achieve with our music," the duo tell THUMP. "The heavyweights they already have on the roster made our decision a no brainer, so we're excited to finally share all the new music we've been working on over the last year!"
