Death, in Life and of Fiction, Inspired Vuurwerk's Excellent "G.R.I.P"

The Belgian trio's low-key garage insta-classic comes with a heavy dose of feels.

Belgian trio Vuurwerk define themselves in the space between body music and emotive reflection. Their tune "G.R.I.P," featuring Climb, is an instant low-key garage classic with a refrain that'll get caught in your head as you pick apart the complex affective cues they're setting forth.

If the tune wasn't enough by itself to give you the feels, the video, directed by Tobi Jonson, is an ode to Vuurwerk's recently passed cohort and star of the video, Sander Vengansbeke. In it, the three individuals walk the streets of (presumably) Brussels before the suspense of life and death is acted out in the form of a beautiful woman in a bedroom as a child looks on.

The story of the video blurs the line between art and actuality. The cut deals with death, mourning and transcendence, and was shot before Sander's death, adding an unexpected layer of gravity to what was already heavy listening. The trio considered holding the video from release, but instead chose to dedicate it to their friend.

Vuurwerk are part of the Run Tell Secrecy collective.
