French Disco Duo Jupiter Ooze Lazy Charm on "Do It"

The earworm is inspired equally by long drives in the Californian desert and French synth-pop.

It's really hard to hate Jupiter. For starters, few others are able to pull off the art of "lazing around doing nothing but looking cute" quite as well. The disco and electro-funk duo, who are based in Paris, met one night in London on an empty dancefloor as the DJ played the 1982 funk classic, Junior's "Mama Used To Say." Their first string of singles were picked up by (who else?) Kitsune, and their debut album arrived in 2012. "Amélie and Quarles' work relies on a common passion for a time when glitter and carelessness were kings," reads their bio. That laconic vibe is captured best in "Do It," a breezy track off their second album Bandana Republic, which arrives this May on Persephone/Grand Blanc. Inspired by long drives in the Californian desert and French synth-pop, this song is more refreshing than snow cones on a sweltering summer day.
