Jimmy Whoo's Video for 'Hustle Hard' is the Pinnacle of '80s Driving Music Excellence

If it was any more VHS, Blockbuster would charge you a late fee.

Jimmy Whoo's bio is populated by just two words: "Producer / Driver". Never before have two simple words so accurately described an artist's sound. Better suited to the stereo of a '69 Camaro SS than any nightclub, Jimmy Whoo's music is the be all, end all of driving music. First getting started with music seven years ago, Jimmy describes the connection is a natural. "Driving gives me inspiration to make music, and making music makes me want to drive," he tells me. "They're linked." His catalogue speaks for itself and is the pinnacle of '80s driving music excellence.

Directed by Dijor Smith of Grand Ville, the original video for "Hustle Hard" is heavily inspired by cinema and was shot over a single day. Devoid of storyboarding, Jimmy says that the decision to improvise the video was a crucial one. "I like the spontaneous side of art," he explains. "We were inspired unconsciously. Influences come from many things, either a movie or just looking out the window."

"Hustle Hard" was taken from Jimmy Whoo's Motel Music EP, which can be enjoyed here.
