[Update September 22, 2PM PST] Moby has confirmed that These Systems Are Failing will be produced by his project Moby & The Void Pacific Choir, and it will be released on October 14 via Mute. He also shared the tracklist and a new song titled "Are You Lost in the World Like Me?" View those below.

American electronic music veteran Moby announced a new album today called These Systems Are Failing, sharing a three-and-a-half minute promotional clip on YouTube featuring snippets of unreleased songs presumably from the record. All the songs have an uptempo, electropop feel, suggesting a punk energy and a melancholically hopeful sense of drama.

In video's description, he says it's a "debut album," which could mean that it was produced by the Moby & The Void Pacific Choir project that he has been involved in since last year. While this is currently unconfirmed by Moby, a number of international webstores on Amazon have the record available for pre-order under that categorization, stating that it will be released on October 14.

The clip opens with the musician dragging an old-fashioned looking microphone from a suburban home into the forest, into which he finally utters the record's title. From there, it's a blitz of rapidly-edited imagery suggesting themes of social activism and representing something along the lines of "corporate America." Images featured range from animals on factory farm conveyor belts to clips of Donald Trump, abandoned amusement parks, and snippets of the Jerry Springer TV show. The thematic content is not surprising from the artist, who has been a vegan and animal rights activist for 29 years, even going so far as to name his 1996 album Animal Rights.

Describing the record in an interview with Al Jazeera America last year, he said, "The music on the record is—the only way I can describe it, it's like new wave dance music. It's sort of New Order inspired, a little Depeche Mode inspired. But quite electronic, very song oriented. I have no idea if it's good."

Earlier this year, Moby made a documentary about his 90s life in New York, and in 1992, he lashed out at an underground rave's sound crew on camera.
