RAMZi and RVNG Intl. Harvest Earthy Synthscapes On "OO"

The track is off Phoebé Guillemot's forthcoming album 'For Haku,' following a release on 1080p last year.

Vancouver synthesist, RAMZi, has shared a wormy and spore-like new composition on NYC label RVNG Intl., titled "OO." The track is off her forthcoming debut for the imprint, For Haku, which follows her 2015 album Houti Kush for experimental tape/Bandcamp purveyor 1080p.

Edging through space with a tantalizing, barely-perceptible slow modulation, Phoebé Guillemot's work here speaks to a kind of vibrant earthiness—evocative of dirt, moss, and rocks tumbling over one another at their own pace. From there, the track turns to the call-and-response of delayed arpeggios and synth squiggles to round out the track's ecology, populating it with a variety of sonic species.

For Haku is the first release on the Commend See series: a multi-disciplinary, collaboration-focused new project under the umbrella of Commend, RVNG's downtown Manhattan storefront and performance space. On Thursday April 21, Guillemot will join Philadelphia-based visual artist Jessica Hans for an in-store installation from 7-9PM—see the poster below for more details.

The new RAMZi album will be out on April 22 on a small run of cassettes. Six unique artist editions of the album in LP form will be available at Thursday's exhibition.
