Martin King’s New Single is Six Minutes of Club Ready Goodness

The Melbourne-based producer—of The Harpoons and Oscar + Martin—is back, with "Pepsi."

If you haven't already, meet Martin King: one fourth of The Harpoons, one half of Oscar + Martin, the duo that Melbourne fell in love with all those years ago, and that jump-started the career of Oscar Key Sung.

Martin's solo career is nothing new. His Fitness EP from 2013 was a capsule collection of twitching beats and warped pop hooks. Single "I'LL BE" was in our heads for weeks. Last year's singles "Guilt Trip" and "PGF," both featuring singer Juliet Rowe, were a reminder that much of King's dexterity lies in club-ready R&B.

Since then he's been busy with other projects, while remixing the likes of SHOUSE and friendships and DJing.

Today on Thump, we premiere the first single from Martin King this year, as he announces signing to Good Manners Records. "Pepsi" is a six-minute-long infectious little banger, a little less R&B than club-ready. If you aren't ready to down a beer and get out into that TGIW, we'd suggest putting the track on ice until pens down. Listen below.
