One of my pet peeves in life, along with people who stand stationary on escalators, people who eat stinky food on public transport, and nose-pickers is when a person speaks so quietly you have to constantly ask them to repeat what they're saying. Perhaps I'm a bit deaf—occupational hazard—but if you want to be heard, speak up. Don't shout, just enunciate and do so at the correct volume. It's really not that hard.Conversely I really love the wispily spectral vocals on Labyrinth Ear's "Urchin"—they're appropriately intimate and encourage you to lean in close. The London-based duo (made up of Emily and Tom) first dropped this tune over a year ago, and we're finally premiering the video, above, which takes advantage of Paris' cinematic, bone-cold vistas. The pallette is appropiriately pastel pale and the motion turned down slow in keeping with the song's unhurried, Asian-influenced synth-pop tones.Labyrinth Ear's debut album, The Orchid Room, is out on 4.14
