Porter Robinson Announces "Sad Machine," the Next Single from 'Worlds'

Don't be sad, because Porter Robinson's next track drops May 13.【=◈︿◈=】

Last night, young gun producer Porter Robinson announced the imminent arrival of the latest single from his hotly-anticipated forthcoming album, Worlds. The upcoming track, "Sad Machine," is due out May 13, and no clips are available yet. The report of its impending release is the latest in a string of Worlds-related revelations—last week, Robinson posted an earnest note to his fans on Facebook page, in which he explained why he hadn't toured or put out new material in a while. The post was also full of hints that the full length will be a departure from his traditional festival-oriented sound: he thanked his fans for continuing to support him even when he tries different musical styles, and discussed why he started to criticize the "boring, functional music for DJs" that, according to Robinson, has become the status quo in EDM.

The only taste we've gotten from Worlds so far is "Sea of Voices," a track that does seem to be quite a departure from the explosive bangers he's known for—this one could be described as "ambient EDM," because most of it is devoid of a kick drum. And when the beat does set in, it plods along slowly underneath cinematic synth blasts. Worlds is set to drop sometime this summer, but you can check out the first taste below.
