Niche, the nightclub that fostered an entire Northern movement, is going to be demolished. Despite being out of action for over a decade, since the club was closed following police raids, it's taken until now for the building that housed the Sheffield's bassline movement to actually be pulled down. One of the scene's lynchpins, Jamie Duggan, posted a lengthy Facebook tribute to the Sidney Street building which is due to be "knocked down altogether." He spoke both of the club's importance to the music scene, as well as to him personally, adding: "[I] Still work with the friends I met / Djs / staff / owners in other ventures today. Even met my gorgeous wife in there and now have 2 beautiful children as a result."

The venue remains a lasting testament to the destructive influence police can have over local music, as well as the singular importance of Midland and Northern scenes.
