Enjoy Some Balearic With Bite on This Remix of José Padilla's "Lollipop"

Out of the sunset and into the night, thanks to I:Cube.

We've been slamming José Padilla's gorgeous album So Many Colours since its release earlier this year. Those rumbling, coastal grooves, the lightly lilting rhythms, and the sun-blushed instrumentation have made it not only a record for this summer, but one for summers to come. We were particularly excited when International Feel, the album's release label and imprint of none other than Balearic big-man Mark Barrott, announced a series of remixes to compliment the album — specifically focusing on the positively glowing album track "Lollipop".

The first of these remixes comes from French producer I:Cube. We've already admired his rework skills earlier in the year, when he took on Todd Terje's "Leisure Suit Preben" to marvellous psychedelic effect, now he has pulled off a similar feat with Padilla. "Lollipop" retains all of its gentle clangs and bounces, but is giving something crunchier underneath, taking the original's glow and moving in with something a little darker. After the sunset, and into the night in other words. Listen below.
