New App Gets You Into Clubs for Free (Almost)

$25 a month for unlimited access to venues across your town? Sure!

For the average fan, there are only two things standing in the way of a night out with good music: Figuring out where to go and paying for it. Event discovery app Jukely now aims to solve the latter with a new feature that will allow members to pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to gigs at participating venues in a given city.

First released in 2013, Jukely has become a fave amongst live music fans for making local live event listing searchable. Users simply tap their preferred genres and the city they're in and Jukely tells them where to go that night. Artists from Chromeo to Twenty One Pilots to Porter Robinson all get pulled into the app's data aggregate, offering a wide range of choices for seasoned clubbers and concergoers and newbies alike.

With a new round of funding under its belt, the New York-based company is entering a new dimension with subscription-based event services with Jukely Unlimited. Starting with NYC, the company says they have commitments from 17 venues who will participate in the program allowing users unfettered access to their events, curated based on their tastes, for a flat $25 monthly fee.

"With Jukely Unlimited, we are going to offer something that has never been done before," says co-founder Bora Celik. "We are excited to continue to create a better concert discovery experience for our users."

Celik is declining to name the participating venues at this point, but even if Jukely gets major venues in most cities, some events at those places still may not be available through Unlimited; the app will only display shows at venues that are included with the monthly service. Accordingly, Jukely Unlimited won't be the equivalent of you rolling around town like you're Diddy, but you only have to attend an average of two shows a month to recoup your membership fee.

Ultimately, apps like Jukely and its Unlimited program are best for music discovery. Those who have their heart set on seeing their favorite artist should probably still buy a ticket. But if you frequently find yourself wanting to hear new stuff but don't know where to turn, this is a good way to navigate the nightlife jungle.
