Welcome to DJ REQUESTS, the new THUMP column airing the best examples of the worst asks by gurning punters of our favourite DJs. Whether you're at an underground bar, sweaty super club or your uncle Terry's wedding, no, they don't want to play the one that goes "da da dah, da de daaah"— or that Miley Cyrus remix. These people get paid to know what to play and you don't. They've got this.

First off from behind the decks, Sydney wunderkind and all-round Australian treasure, Alison Wonderland. She's played all over the country, and beyond, which means she probably has way more examples of douchey requests—but here she talks strip clubs, Drake, pizza and Nickelback. Oh and listen to her new track while you're at it.

THUMP: So when (and where) was the last time someone requested something of you?
Alison: After I played the afterparty for my warehouse tour in the Gold Coast I went to a strip club at 2:30am and they let me DJ (best ever). One of the dancers requested a song for me to play.

What was it?
It was "Started From the Bottom" by Drake. Makes me laugh now that I think about it more. Haha.

& What did you do/say?
Of course I said yes. You never say no to Drake, especially at a strip club.

What's the worst thing anyone's asked you to play?
When I first started someone left a piece of paper on the decks which said "Nickelback" I turned it into a paper plane and threw it back. That was very traumatic for me.

And the strangest?
"Party all the time" by Eddie Murphy.

Anyone ever requested anything other than a song? (Like, a sandwich? An E?) & how did you respond?
I once had someone bring me a pizza during my set. Naturally, I ate it.

If you could request anything of your crowd or hey, anybody, what would it be? For Tony Abbott to shut up?
Always be open minded at shows.
