Genre-hopper Melé Debuts Roller Coaster of a Track on His New Label

Melé launches own label for like-minded eclecticists.

Over the past few years Melé has become a near-constant fixture on the UK's airwaves, guesting on Monki's, Annie Mac's and Mistajam's Radio 1 and 1Xtra shows as well as his own on NTS. In between his radio appearances, Melé has been keeping busy with a slew of mixtapes that showcase his diverse influences. His most recent, Melmatic, drew on his love for golden age hip hop and his THUMP mix featured an eclectic mix of techno, UK funky and rave anthems.

So it's no surprise then that the Liverpudlian producer has started up his own label, Quadrants, to cater to his genre-hopping productions. "I steer away from the genre box and therefore my sound can chop and change; so over the last few years I've struggled to find a label where my music fits perfectly," he explains. The debut release on Quadrants comes from Melé himself and we've got a preview of the EP's first track "The Ritzy". It's a roller coaster of a track, its bouncy synths seemingly rising and rising but never reaching a climax. Appropriate then that the track's vocal sample, "I keep dancing forever", evokes that same sense of boundless energy.

"The Ritzy" is out November 10th on Quadrants Records. You can follow Melé on Twitter, Facebook, and SoundCloud.
