What was the best thing about the year two thousand and five? No, it was not those appropriated Keffiyeh scarves with the skulls that everyone was wearing, they were not good. Nor was it the rise of Scientology, or the invention of “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” by The Black Eyed Peas. It was, in fact, the release of Bloc Party’s seminal debut album Silent Alarm, the one that gave us “Helicopter”, “Banquet”, “Positive Tension”, “She’s Hearing Voices” and all those other tracks that you forgot about, but which you would absolutely lose your fucking shit to if you heard them being played on a night out.

This brings me to the next point, which is that Bloc Party have just announced they are playing Silent Alarm in full, for the very first time, at six shows across Europe from 15-24 October. I don’t know why they are doing this because they haven’t said, and we’re nowhere near any official anniversary, but who cares really – maybe they just felt like making all the overgrown indie kids happy and revisiting what many view as the pinnacle of their career (unless you prefer their second album A Weekend In the City, but wtvr).

You can view the dates and venues below, and tickets go on sale here as of this Friday. In the meantime, why don’t you read all our Bloc Party content, like that time we went round the world with them for 12 years, or last year’s profile with their singer Kele Okereke.
