As our friends at Vice THUMP UK reported, the Daft Punk documentary, Daft Punk: Unchained, is currently streaming on the BBC's iPlayer. While that's awesome for Britain, it doesn't mean chips for those of us living in the US where the iPlayer isn't available. But now some Americans, namely New Yorkers, will have their chance to screen the film when it makes its US premiere on Tuesday.

Daft Punk: Unchained tells the story of the rise of the masked French duo from underground club provacateurs to Grammy-award winning robots. The film will be screened once in the afternoon, and again in the evening where a Q&A with director Hervé Martin-Delpierre will follow. According to a press release from the French Institute's Alliance Françiase, the documentary will kick off a month long celebration of French dance music in cinema called EDM Anthems: French Touch on Film. French Touch refers to a particular strain of contemporary French dance music influenced by disco and vocoders.

Other events for the festival a master DJ class with Busy P, a discussion with composer Mark Snow (The X-Files), and a late night dance party at Le Bain, the club on rooftop of the Standard East Hotel. For more information, visit the Alliance Française website.
