Exorcise Your Feelings with Dream Boat's "Escape"

Athens, Georgia duo Dream Boat is, true to their name, a pretty gauzy, hallucinatory outfit, but don't let those signifiers suggest they don't also pack a little bit of a punch.

Athens, Georgia duo Dream Boat is, true to their name, a pretty gauzy, hallucinatory outfit, but don't let those signifiers suggest they don't also pack a little bit of a punch. "Escape," the track we're premiering off their upcoming sophomore album The Rose Explodes, is a tense, slow-building track that sounds like a prettier, softer take on industrial music. Singer Page Campbell delivers lines like "There is nothing/left to take/there is nothing/more to say"and "I have to save myself" in a persistent deadpan that clangs disjointedly agaisnt the martial production. Eventually, the song builds into a swirling, cathartic burst of guitars and rattling electronic drums as Page's voice echoes over it, finding a kind of wounded release.
