Kaytranada, the latest electronic livewire from Canada, has a new set of visuals for y'all. That’s always a good thing because his every Soundcloud upload has left music fiends salivating all over their shift keys. His latest effort is “At All”—an enjoyable jungle gym of twisted female sampling, synth play, and bubbling drum jabs. Now, with a little help from director Martin C Pariseau, it's accompanied with a video that's sort of like Eric Prydz’s “Call On Me” if the women had been pumped with whey protein rather than tanning pills. So, after gawping at muscled babes with triceps bigger than my entire body, I had a quick catch up with Kaytra to ask WTF.Noisey: Cool video you've got there.Kaytranada: Ahh, thanks man.So muscly girls are your niche? No. It was the director’s idea but before I didn’t really feel too comfortable with it at first. I thought it was funny when we shot the video though and I'm definitely not gonna do that shit again, but yeah, it was cool to do something new too.Being carried by a muscular woman must have been quite the experience.Definitely. Maybe not crazy weird because we’re carried as babies. That's one way to look at it. It's like the pumped version of the "Call On Me" video.I remember watching that video as a kid and thinking, "Damn, those girls look HEALTHY," but mine’s more on a wrestling woman vibe.Ripped girls FTW. So in school did you like gym class or try your best to skip it?I’d definitely try and skip it. Unless we were playing basketball, I’d skip it all the time because I wasn’t really the sports kinda dude. The track is obviously very good too but what's the story behind how you made it?I was in Paris when I did that song and I just wanted to make a track because I had producer’s block when I was on tour and I couldn’t do any music. I had this long break when I was in Paris though so I decided to take this Chaka Khan song. It’s one of my favourites called “I Love You, I Live You” and I just did random stuff. I usually play with the pitch of the sample but this time I just messed with it. I thought I’d bring something new to the table because not a lot of producers play with their style like that. The drums are like what I usually do with other songs. And since we last spoke for Noisey has any solid project begun to take shape just yet?Right now, I'm working on some kind of album or EP, but I'm definitely working on something strong because I'm tired of waiting and just dropping songs, singles and remixes. I just want to drop an album so I'm not seen as one of those DJs that drops one song a year. I don’t want to be that sort of musician so I'm definitely working on an album and that might be out next year.Kaytranada releases the 'At All/Hilarity Duff' EP with a remix of "At All" by Sango on October 16 via HW&W Recordings.
