The Social Studio represents everything the Australian fashion industry should be. You'll find them on Smith Street in Collingwood—operating a cafe, fashion label, and charity that aims to help refugees and other humanitarian migrants pursue careers in fashion and the arts. This weekend, we're helping throw the Social Studio's annual free community Block Party, and screening a selection of VICE video content in a curated VICE Video Room.What to expect? Well, you may have heard that we have a TV channel now, SBS VICELAND. So we'll be screening our favourite episode of VICELAND's Gaycation, where hosts Ellen Page and Ian Daniel travel to Jamaica and explore the intersection between its queer community and dancehall scene. You can also catch an episode of our global fashion show States of Undress, where host Hailey Gates visits Pakistan, attending Karachi Fashion Week to see what designers are doing outside of the NYFW circuit.i-D Australia editor Wendy Syfret has collected her favourite fashion videos from across the globe too, including interviews with the likes of Hari Nef, Lil Yachty, and Tyler The Creator. Watch The Plastic Age, a documentary featuring Pharrell Williams that argues—rather convincingly—that our current global era can be defined by its consumption of plastic. Size Matters takes a brave look at the fashion industry's biggest health problem: weight. And Clubland deep dives into the history of clubbing subcultures, and the various beauty and fashion trends that have defined them.Running from 12 PM until 6 PM in the Collingwood Arts Precinct as part of the Victorian Multicultural Commission's Cultural Diversity Week and VAMFF 2017, Block Party also features music from around Australia, market stalls, and a fashion parade featuring looks from the Social Studio's collaboration with artist Kate Beynon.The Social Studio Block Party will kick off on 4 March at noon.
