Have a Slurp on the Bon Voyage Organisation's 'Love Soup'

Do warlords dream of electric voguers?

The French have always loved disco. From the bombastic excess of Cerrone to the bombastic excess of Daft Punk via the bombastic excess of Voyage and the bombastic excess of Space, it seems that our cross-channel cousins love mirror balls and stacked heels just as much as berets and shrugging. Let's add Adrien Durand's Bon Voyage Organisation to the gallic Studio 54 crew.

Durand first came to our attention after releasing the beguiling Impersonnel Naviguant EP on Jamal Moss' Mathematics Recordings back 2009. That EP, slipped out under the moniker Les Aéroplanes, was a spacey trip through lo-fi house territory that gained support from the likes of Toby Tobias and Beautiful Swimmers. Bon Voyage records have retained that sense of the cosmically exploratory, but rooted them in warped, disco-not-disco.

"Bon Voyage is basically my way of learning how to work in the studios in a late-70s / early-80s setup – but on a 2010 budget," Durand explains. "I guess my liking of old studios can be compared to the way some people like old cars. A vintage car looks good but nothing beats knowing how to drive one. Recording a good rhythm track requires sometimes so much more than finding the right sample, both in terms of technical knowhow and musicianship. Most of the time it comes down to managing human resources."

With new EP Xingye on the way, we're very excited to bring you the video exclusive for lead track "Love Soup." The track itself is a sultry slow-burner that rolls and rocks angelically, gliding down smoother than a can of Campbells. The video, though, is dark romp through a warlord's fantasies of becoming a voguer. It's trippy, sleazy, and ever so seedy. Enjoy.

If it's got you going, Xingye is released 7th June 2015 on Disque Pointu. Pre-order it here.
